Attested: Atina at position 293 in the Ravenna Cosmography
Where: An island off western Scotland, possibly Muck if the Cosmography listed names in a reasonable order for sailing.
Name Origin: Resembles the goddess Αθηνα/Athena, or the town Atina near Rome.
Notes Richmond & Crrawford translated *atina as ‘duck’, possibly thinking of Petronius’ word anatina ‘pertaining to ducks’.
