Where: Newstead Roman fort at NT56983441 beside the river Tweed near Melrose, on Dere Street in the Scottish borders.
Name Origin: Latin for ‘of three hills’, which accurately describes the location.
Notes: Trimontium was also the name of a much bigger (and older) city that is now Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
