Attested:  RC Derbentione

Where:  Probably the Roman fort at Little Chester, Derby, at SK354375 beside the river Derwent.  There was possibly an earlier fort on the other side of the river at SK349373.

Name origin:  See under Derventio.  B and V became almost interchangeable in late Graeco-Roman usage.

Notes:  The preceding place in RC’s list, Lutudaron, has not been identified, and RC’s track across the map is slightly odd, since it comes from the west (Chester and Warrington) and then goes back there (Northwich and Middlewich).
