Attested: Dorvantium in RC's tour of harbour estuaries.
Where: Probably the Cumbria river Derwent because RC mentioned Dorvantium after Coantia (probably the river Kent) and before Anava (probably the Annan). Magis fort may have been at its mouth.
Name origin: See under Derventione about possible etymologies of rivers with names like Derwent. This seems more likely than an origin from *duro- ‘crossing’ plus *anti- ‘opposite river’.
