Armis
Attested: RC Armis
Where: Probably Wickham, on the river Meon, Hampshire, at SU573114.
Name Origin: Graeco-Latin αρμος/armus ‘joint’ or αρμη ‘junction’ fits the Y junction of Roman roads at Wickham.
Notes: RC listed Armis between Venta velgarom (Winchester) and Ardaoneon (probably Havant). There is some archaeological evidence for a Roman-era settlement at Wickham.
